Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development supports the management and operations of the College of Information and Communications. The incumbent will be responsible for building and managing a donor/prospect portfolio for the University of South Carolina College of Information and Communications.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience in an area such as alumni development, fundraising, prospect research, or business development. Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of donors and prospects.

Preferred Qualifications

Fund-raising or development experience.


Appropriate knowledge of principles and methods of planning and conducting a comprehensive fundraising program. Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, alumni, donors, volunteers, businesses and the general public. Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of donors and prospects. Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
