Position Description:

As an Assistant Director of Development, you will be responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding philanthropic gifts. This role works closely with faculty, staff, and volunteers to secure commitments up to $100,000 in support of research, education, community engagement and patient care initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the mission and philanthropic priorities of Froedtert Hospital Foundation, and Medical College of Wisconsin. Works collaboratively across the organization and departments to build relationships with benefactors, prospects, friends, and organizational leaders. Comprehensive understanding of the strategic research, education, community, and patient care priorities.
Build and effectively manage a portfolio of prospects and donors with a highly relational lens. Qualifies prospects and works collaboratively with colleagues within the Office of Institutional Advancement to expand the base of donors supporting for MCW and Froedtert Hospital priorities.
Pursue giving opportunities that align priorities with donor interests and the overall strategic priorities of Froedtert Hospital, Froedtert Hospital Foundation, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Creatively develop and implement innovative strategies for the successful qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts.
Utilize predictive data analytics, assess prospects, and develop and execute strategies to realize the current and lifetime giving potential of prospects.
Ability to inspire prospective benefactors, articulate organizational priorities, strategically present and solicit philanthropic opportunities and close gifts.
Develop and maintain relationships with volunteer leadership, faculty, clinicians and staff associated with her/his portfolios and educational programs. Meet with colleagues across campus to coordinate and execute strategies, utilizing experience and knowledge to build consensus.
Make persuasive verbal and written cases for supporting these key priorities, effectively matching the interests of prospects to specific projects and programs needing support and ensure effective stewardship of donor relationships.
General understanding of principles and techniques associated with planned giving and estate gifts. Work collaboratively colleagues to cultivate, solicit and steward planned gifts.
Participate in advancement activities and events, including dinners, receptions, and other fundraising initiatives.
Review and ensure overall accuracy of her/his portfolio in database. Record proposals and actions about prospects and donors in a timely fashion in Raisers Edge database.
Accountable to annual individual performance goal metrics as well as strategic goals and objectives of department.

- Demonstrated analytic and strategic thinking capabilities. Experience with fundraising database software and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- A highly developed ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information related to both alumni and donors, as well as employees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum education: Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum experience: 1 years of experience in relationship management with externally facing constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred education: Master's degree
Preferred experience: 2 years; preferably in philanthropy. Internet research, database query and reporting experience. Experience in Development/Advancement setting.
