 Assists in developing individual, corporate, and foundation relations in the Department of Athletics. Conducts research, prepares bios, cultivates relationships with donors. Maintains detailed files and data and prepares reports. Participates in development events and meetings to promote the Department of Athletics.
The Assistant Director of Development, Major Gifts is responsible for supporting the Major Gifts team by leading prospect strategy organization and discovery outreach efforts. The position will co-manage weekly prospect management and strategy sessions and monitor individual gift officer portfolio management, activity, and production. Additionally, the incumbent will also think strategically and practically to execute a comprehensive discovery outreach plan and meet established metrics as it relates to lead generation for the Major Gifts team. Serve as liaison to campus and department partners. The Assistant Director of Development, Major Gifts reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Major Gifts.

Essential Functions • Collaborate and strategize with athletics development officers to lead portfolio analysis and prospect management through the donor cycle. • Coordinate and co-manage athletic development major gift pipeline and prospect management meetings. • Prepare and report athletics development officer productivity and prospect activity, as well as manage future pipeline, year-to-date fundraising progress, and special project fundraising progress. • Serve as liaison to Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement prospect management and research team to develop an organized effort for enhanced prospect research work, coordination of research requests, and development/maintenance of reports and dashboards within Affinaquest. Also, serve as liaison to the Pitt Athletics Data Analytics team for partnership opportunities surrounding constituent data platform. • Assist with other Major Gifts team projects as assigned. • Develop and execute a comprehensive virtual outreach plan to identify potential donors to Pitt Athletics. • Utilize data from various Revenue Generation Team sources to target prospects who are either unassigned or otherwise not engaged with the Panther Club. • Engage prospective donors in positive and purposeful ways by utilizing a cadence calendar to guide communication and engagement efforts. • Completion of thorough activity reporting and organization will be required. • Proven proficiency in this area will expand future growth opportunities, including prospect assignment and portfolio development. • Regularly attend Panther Club events. • Assist with gameday hospitality and targeted prospect/donor events. • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Effort Desk work, extensive computer work, phone work. Little physical effort required. The position is mostly sedentary. Will be required to walk and stand at Athletics Department events.
