Description
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will play an active role in securing support from corporate and foundation prospects for the University of New England, including research of prospects, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts made to UNE. This position will carry an extensive portfolio of identified foundation and corporate prospects.
The Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will develop strategies for qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship using a moves management system to maintain an active and productive portfolio. In addition, this position will work closely with a variety of key University administrators, faculty, and staff, to identify priorities for funding and develop appropriate strategies to secure grant support. The Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will prepare proposals and any required materials for submission to funders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to solicit gifts of up to $100,000 from foundations and corporations…
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of up to 100 foundations and corporate donors and prospects;
  • Cultivate strong relationships with University administrators, deans, program directors, faculty, and professional staff to match current UNE initiatives with the priorities of philanthropic partners;
  • Research, write, and prepare proposals and accompanying documents that align with the guidelines of private foundations and corporations;
  • Leverage University events and activities to enhance sponsorships.
  • Partner with the Director of Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement to engage and cultivate prospective corporate allies.
  • Collaborate and/or serve as a consultant in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of corporate sponsorships by other UNE programs and departments, including the tracking of those sponsorships.
  • Track and maintain foundation and corporate actions, contacts, maintain grant records and donor correspondence within the database.
  • Perform other related or additional duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate and coordinate stewardship initiatives with the Director of Donor Relations.
  • Partner with the Communications and Facilities departments to ensure branding, signage, and sponsorship recognition falls within University guidelines; participate in creating guidelines when necessary.
  • Collaborate and/or serve as a consultant in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of corporate sponsorships by other UNE programs and departments, including the tracking of those sponsorships.
  • Some night and weekend work, and local and national travel required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a strong emphasis on reading, writing, and communications or a related field, plus three to five years of successful related work experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising, proposal development and writing, portfolio management, and developing relationships with foundation leaders, corporate decision makers, and business leaders
  • Ability to communicate with a high level of professional judgment, critical thinking, and sensitivity to confidentiality and discretion when making commitments on behalf of the University.
  • Excellent persuasive writing, reading, and communications skills; ability to synthesize ideas and information in clear and compelling ways.
  • Demonstrates outstanding organizational and time management skills, a high level of energy, initiative, and creativity
  • Knowledge and experience with word processing and other computer software applications in data file management; PowerPoint; Excel and other related programs.
  • Raiser’s Edge database experience desirable
  • Ability to work effectively with and represent the University to a broad range of individuals and groups within and outside of the university, including strong general public relations, marketing and public speaking skills, as well as specialized donor solicitation skills.
