Career Services at East Carolina University supports and empowers students in their career and professional development to succeed as professionals in a global community. Career Services provides students with career development tools that assist them as they successfully navigate the college to career transition and become professionals in life and career. The department develops academic and co-curricular programs and services to enhance career readiness, leadership, and engagement. Career Services additionally builds connections and conducts outreach to external groups which employ students in internship, cooperative education and full time career opportunities. These efforts support the departmental mission to prepare students for success beyond the college experience.
Job Duties
The Assistant Director works collaboratively within the Employer Relations Team of ECU Career Services to provide opportunities for engagement between employers and students.
The Assistant Director is part of the lead team which delivers job fairs, employer information sessions, etiquette dinners, panel discussions, meet & greet socials, and other employer-involved student programs. The Assistant Director maintains current employer relationships and establishes new ones. The scope of student recruitment support will include full-time hiring and hiring for experiential learning programming such as cooperative education, Disney College Program, internships, etc. In addition to recruitment events and programs, support provided to employers will include consultation in best practices for recruitment and experiential learning structuring.
Existing employer relationships will be maintained and new employer relationships will be developed. These responsibilities may require occasional overnight travel.
This role will implement and develop marketing strategies to increase employer registrations and broaden industry representation within the ECU community.
The Assistant Director supervises one SHRA staff.
Responsibilities:
  • (70%) Manage coordination of career events and experiential learning programming ,on-campus recruiting programs including on campus interviews, information sessions, networking events, career fairs, classroom visits, etc. throughout the university. Utilize career management database system.
  • (5%) Maintain a database of corporate contacts and campus recruiters. Utilize and maintain career services platform (currently Handshake) and customer relationship management system (currently LACRM).
  • (5%) Develop and produce promotional and marketing materials promoting event and program participation to employers.
  • (10%) Manage coordination of career events and experiential learning programming and provide direct support to Career Development staff in developing student programming which includes employers.
  • (5%) Provides direct supervision to SHRA staff.
  • (5%) Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director.
Minimum Education/Experience
Post-Baccalaureate degree in business development, sales, marketing, communication, higher education, student affairs, career counseling, or other relevant degree; or a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in marketing, hospitality management, career services, outplacement, recruiting, human resources, or higher education environment.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
