The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion’s Assistant Director of Campus Inclusion, Consulting and Community Support  works with the Chief Diversity Officer of HGSE and a wide array of HGSE stakeholders to plan and execute on key DEI priorities.

Position Description

  • Serve as point person for campus community for DEI and identity-based related trauma-informed care, as requested. 
  • Identify, develop and host workshops related to incorporating trauma-informed practices in the classroom and in the workplace.  
  • Facilitate connections to CAMHS, academic coaching, or other sources of support as needed,  
  • Orient and present the ODEI to new HGSE faculty, staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders
  • Serve as a restorative justice practitioner in bias incident facilitations for HGSE community members in consultation and collaboration with HR, Office of Student Affairs and Faculty Affairs.  
  • Facilitate DEI response conversations when identity violence occurs (at HGSE, Harvard, or broader) 
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, provide conflict management tools as requested.  
  • Track trends and offer meaningful feedback to leadership to inform on issues in the community and strategic planning for DEI. 
  • Serve as a Title IX Resource Coordinator 
  • Manage the office's requests for co-sponsorships and events, and handle subsequent logistics.
  • Lead, plan and facilitate educational workshops for HGSE community as needed.  
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to develop, implement and oversee a communications strategy for ODEI 
  • Represent HGSE on internal and Harvard-wide committees or workgroups as needed.
  • Offer the DEI lens in department-specific meetings, consultations, and potential external partnerships.
  • Manage and implement office operations including logistics and finances. 
  • Other duties as needed. 

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of related experience supporting DEI initiatives. Experience may count toward degree requirements. Experience with trauma-informed practices.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Previous experience in higher education strongly preferred. 

Experience developing and facilitating education sessions, workshops, and other DEI content. 

Previous experience with facilitating trauma informed consultations and presentations to a diverse community. 

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to build trusting relationships. 

Exceptional listening skills. 

Previous experience providing support for faculty, staff, and graduate level students preferred.

HGSE is currently developing dynamic workplace models which will actively support a combination of on-campus and remote work (within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business) where business and operational needs allow. Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
