Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Campus Activities provides leadership in the development and implementation of student engagement and retention programs. This includes the management of Leadership & Service, Patriot Pantry, and oversight to Campus Activities. Provides general support and guidance to the Department of Student Engagement. Position is required to assist with Department of Student Engagement activities and university-wide events, which requires working nights & weekends.

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Facilitates the management and implementation of THECB UT Tyler Texas Leadership Scholars Program and initiatives.
  • Provides oversight to the office of Campus Activities.
  • Implements Leadership & Service programs including, but not limited to Alternative Spring Break, The East Texas Big Event, regular leadership programs, and service opportunities. 
  • Serves as the primary advisor for the National Society of Leadership & Success or equivalent.
  • Manages the Patriot Pantry (on-campus food pantry).
  • Supervises and supports departmental programs and staff in areas including but not limited to Patriot Pantry, Leadership & Service, and Campus Activities.
  • Assists the Director in the management of Leadership & Service, Campus Activities offices annual budgets and the effective use of department resources.
  • Provides marketing and conducts departmental outreach regarding programs and initiatives.
  • Prepares regular reports detailing Student Engagement programs’ impact on student retention and satisfaction as it relates to Leadership, Service, and Pantry programs.
  • Performs administrative tasks, assists with strategic planning, departmental assessment, and evaluation of programs.
  • Prepares regular reports detailing programs as it relates to student retention and involvement.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a student affairs area.

 

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree in student affairs.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in coordinating, advising and development of student activities and organization programs, along with a strong understanding of student development theory, organizational development, student learning outcomes and assessment.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
