Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $35.00 – $38.50 hourly and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.  

Position Summary Information


Summary
Will manage the execution of live athletic broadcasts taking place in the Fowler Events Center and athletic venues across campus. They will also assist in the general production of live events as well as the maintenance and operation of Audio, Video, Lighting, and Rigging equipment in all Athletic venues and spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
  • Coordinate and execute all aspects of the ESPN+, YouTube, and other broadcasts for the athletics department.
  • Coordinate technical production and serve as video director for major events taking place in the CBU Events Center.
  • Assist in the production of weekly chapel taking place in the Events Center.
  • Assist in the production of graphic and video content for use during live events and broadcasts.
  • Assist with inventory, maintenance, and improvement of all Athletics owned video equipment.
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of all Audio, Video, Lighting, and Rigging systems in the Athletic venues and spaces.
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in weekly Media Production, regular department, and fan engagement meetings.
  • Coordinate student workers and interns in media production related tasks.
  • Coordinate and schedule broadcasters and on-air talent
  • Coordinate with outside contractors who might be utilized to produce a CBU broadcast.
  • Adhere to all institutional, conference and NCAA by-laws and regulations.
  • Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    This position will be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time student workers and on-call workers to complete work assignments.
    Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    • Skill and knowledge in the operation of video cameras and broadcast techniques.
    • Skill and knowledge in lighting as it pertains to video and broadcast.
    • Knowledge of audio principles including but not limited to EQ, Compression, Reverb, Recording, Mixing, and Editing.
    • Knowledge of basic video animation as well as photo/video editing using Adobe Creative Cloud.
    • Knowledge of live streaming principles and platforms including ESPN+ and YouTube.
    • Knowledge of Audio, Video, Lighting, and Rigging systems, and equipment in a live production environment.
    • Knowledge of network-based audio and video applications including Dante and NDI.
    • A passion and general understanding of sports and athletic competition.
    • Skill in using Mac OSX, and Windows Platforms.
    • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
    • A thorough knowledge of: Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures, and practices.
    • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
    • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
    • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
    • Ability to handle delicate matters with discretion.
    • Ability to take direction and criticism with grace.
    • Ability to work evenings, over holiday breaks and weekends.
    Education and/or Experience
    Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with writing scripts, conducting on-camera interviews, and video storytelling.
