Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations will manage regional engagement volunteers, venue hosts, and digital event communications. This position will also serve as the staff liaison for regional Polar Bear Gatherings and support these events with detailed venue research and outreach to local alumni communities. With a focus on engaging and supporting volunteers, this position will also support up to seven Reunion Committees.
Pay and Benefits:
  • Salary range: $60,000 (minimum) – $65,000 (maximum) based on experience.

Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Applicants must possess excellent writing and communication skills, interpersonal skills, be team oriented, positive, and upbeat.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative is crucial as is experience and comfort working well under pressure in a fast-paced work environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
  • At least 3 years of experience in alumni relations, event planning, or related field.
  • The successful candidate will have a high degree of cultural competency and be capable of interacting well with a diverse population of alumni, parents, students, and staff of the College, and will understand the culture of a small, highly selective residential liberal arts institution.
  • Inspiring, motivating, and managing volunteers is a key component of this work.
  • Understanding and using data in day-to-day decision making will also be important for success in this role.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word).

Preferred:
  • Experience with fundraising or alumni management software
  • Experience with social media, and Google suite.

Standard Work Days and Hours
  • An exempt position requiring the time commitment necessary to complete the job requirements.
  • Hours are primarily Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Frequent evening and weekend duties. Travel required.
