Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues.
Position Summary
The School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment. We are looking for a dynamic candidate who is passionate about creating positive experiences and strong supports for prospective students at our nationally ranked school. This is a full time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, non-faculty appointment that reports to the Assistant Dean for Admissions, Recruitment and Financial Aid. The Assistant Director will join the Office of Academic and Student Affairs to develop, plan, and help lead the School’s recruitment and admissions efforts to meet enrollment goals for our on-campus, off-campus, and future online program with multiple application deadlines. The candidate will assist in developing, planning, and implementing special recruitment and orientation events, lead ongoing student recruitment projects within the School including the student ambassadors program, identifying and securing new financial support, among others. The Assistant Director will represent the UNC School of Social Work at local, state-wide and national graduate school recruitment events. In addition, the candidate will collaborate with the MSW admissions committee to recruit and set objectives to achieve the School’s MSW program enrollment goals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Applicants should have strong technical, organizational, and data management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with central university and the UNC Graduate School regarding university protocols, policies, and admissions systems. Candidates must also have the ability to work effectively with social work faculty, staff and students, as well as prospective students, alumni and professional social workers in the field.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
MSW strongly preferred. Preference will also be given to applicants with more than one year post-masters social work practice, previous administrative experience and previous experience in an academic setting.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
