Job Purpose
Provides academic and bar exam support to law students and graduates. Assists in educating law students for lives of leadership and service for the common good.
The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position is $80,461 – $87,560 annually. The internal full salary range is $80,461 – $108,859.

Function Details
  • Teach the Bar Exam Strategies and Techniques (B.E.S.T.) course during semesters in which it is offered, and other courses as needed.
  • Build out, facilitate, and manage Gonzaga University School of Law’s summer bar review program.
  • Track individual and aggregate graduate bar performance for internal review and ABA reporting purposes with the Registrar’s office.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of bar admission requirements in all jurisdictions.
  • Provide students with assistance regarding completing bar applications.
  • Meet with students and graduates in groups and individually to counsel them regarding effective bar exam preparation.
  • Maintain regular communication with graduates throughout the post-graduate bar study period, including through social media platforms.
  • Maintain relationships with the major commercial bar review program providers and using those forums to monitor graduates’ progress throughout the bar preparation period, intervening promptly when a graduate begins to fall significantly behind.
  • Research and implement the most current best practices for bar support.
  • Serve as Gonzaga University School of Law’s point of contact for our BARBRI partnership, with the Director.
  • Develop an expertise regarding the subject matter and testing techniques of the NextGen bar exam.
  • Work with faculty to develop skills-based learning opportunities and assessments modeled after the NextGen bar exam.
  • Attend conferences and other programming relevant to bar exam success.

Minimum Qualifications
  • ​Passage of a bar exam and admission to a state bar in the United States.​
  • Experience teaching, using interpersonal and counseling skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal and external customers.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and work both independently and as part of a team​.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year of law teaching experience, preferably in a bar preparation or academic support program (as faculty, staff, and/or as peer educator).
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience with assessment and with data collection preferred.
Physical / Environmental Qualifications
  • Remain in a stationary position 70% of the time.
  • Ability to prep for and attend meetings and events across campus in various weather conditions.
  • Wrist and hand movement related to computer work.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, stretch and reach.
  • Pick-up, carry and move items up to 25 lbs.
