Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Academic Enrichment fosters student learning and development at Bellarmine University by providing guidance and support for Learning Communities, Pioneer Scholars/First-Generation Initiatives, and Study Abroad and International Programs.

Specific duties include:

Academic Enrichment Programming

  • Support the development and implementation of weekly programming for Learning Communities and Pioneer Scholars.
  • Collaborate with professional staff in the SSC , faculty, and other campus partners in a variety of ways to provide holistic experience for students.
  • Provide strategic outreach for students who are not engaged in programming and/or as necessary. 
  • Delegate programming tasks and requests to professional staff and student staff, as necessary.

Internationalization Efforts

  • Create and implement new programs designed to internationalize Learning Communities and Pioneer Scholars.
  • Develop and integrate systems and processes aimed at increasing access to international programs and experiences for all students.
  • Support various initiatives within Study Abroad and International Programs, as necessary.

Operations, communications, and data management

  • Develop and implement primary communications for all programs in Academic Enrichment, including, but not limited to, social media platforms, websites, and additional print and electronic materials.
  • Work with the Director of Academic Enrichment and campus partners to recruit students for Learning Communities and participate in various pre-matriculation activities to support first-generation students.
  • Help maintain programmatic budgets through record keeping and other methods.
  • Data management, as necessary.
  • Support assessment efforts, as necessary.

Support of student staff

  • Assist the Director of Academic Enrichment in supporting all LC Mentors and Pioneer Mentors through training, ongoing professional development, evaluations, and other supports.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection processes for all student staff.
  • Attend student staff meetings and provide guidance on working with first-year students.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in higher education or related field
  • 1-3 years of professional experience working with first-generation college students, first-year experience, study abroad, or related field. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and ability to take initiative on departmental and cross-campus collaboration  
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and willingness to take initiative
  • understanding how to collaborate in a team environment
  • Pro-active approach to duties
  • Impeccable attention to detail
