UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, NETWORK AND INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES position.

WORK SCHEDULE


  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week
  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday
  • POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Provide the overall strategy, planning, implementation, and management of enterprise networking, infrastructure, and data center security architecture and related services.
  • Provide strategic direction to the operations, monitoring and day-to-day management of networking infrastructure including switching, routing, firewalling, load balancing, DNS, DHCP, Wired, Wireless, VPN, and other related networking services.
  • Oversee networking services outsourced and provided by UW-IT on behalf of UW Medicine.
  • Responsible and accountable for identifying budgetary needs related to network projects, capital, and operational activites in support of UW Medicine customers.
  • Execute all aspects of delivery of the services and projects within budgetary constraints and in alignment with the fiscal policies and guidelines of UW Medicine ITS.
  • Direct the management of vendors and foster vendor relationships for the benefit of UW Medicine.  Manage and execute network related projects with interdependencies to ensure the most efficient use of resources and deliver of the highest quality product possible.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine.  UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW).  ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You create and sustain strong processes and capabilities through the development/enhancement, deployment, and maintenance of methods, metrics, tools, training, education, and communication.
  • You contribute to the development of and maintain departmental budget(s) and policies, directing the management and control of budget(s) and resources.
  • You build, manage, and sustain vendor/supplier relationships.
  • You develop and maintain an effective enterprise Network Operations Program which guarantees the highest possible scalability, security, reliability, and performance to UW Medicine customers.
  • You direct responsibility to proactively ensure that network operation services are well evolved and continually meet or exceed customer’s needs and requirements.
  • You lead, organize, and positively influence a team of professionals that may consist of teams within teams.
  • You instill UW Medicine and ITS vision and guiding principles to all staff, implementing mission-oriented HR practices.
  • You promote an environment that is attractive to the employee and that facilitates the recruitment and retention of professional, technical, and support staff.  This includes, but is not limited to, staff development, recognition, motivation, and communications.
  • You work with group Director to carry out the vision for areas of responsibility to support the mission of UW Medicine.
  • You collaborate with all areas of ITS to ensure a single IT Vision to support the mission and vision of UW Medicine.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 8+ years of overall experience to include the below.
  • 8+ years progressive, relevant experience related to IT Network management.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading and managing technology and/or business professionals.
  • Demonstrated management experience in enterprise networking strategy, architecture, and operations.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to influence in matrix environment.
  • Proven ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and provide guidance and leadership to professional personnel.
  • In depth knowledge of enterprise technologies such as storage/SAN, virtualization, backup/recovery.
  • Demonstrated Enterprise IT strategic, operations, and service delivery experience within a large-scale, complex multi-site, healthcare environment.
  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.
  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours.  The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies.  This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.
  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.
  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.
  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
