ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, Consortium on Financing Higher Education (COFHE), take a lead role in COFHE’s core activities of collecting, validating, analyzing, interpreting, storing, and reporting data on undergraduate students, admissions, financial aid, and student outcomes. These activities involve developing clear research objectives and questions; working with COFHE staff and its member institutions to collect, test, clean, and refine data; processing definitional variations to make data comparable across member schools; producing descriptive and inferential analyses; synthesizing findings in numeric, graphical, and written forms; and presenting to audiences within the COFHE community in formats and styles designed to make the data useful to policy-makers.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to participate in COFHE’s research inquiries, from initial data collection through final reporting; and involves working closely with senior staff within the IR, admissions, and financial aid offices of member schools.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree (master's strongly preferred); demonstrated experience with survey research and/or institutional research projects and campus cost studies; successful project management experience; strong applied statistical skills; proficiency with Stata, Excel, SPSS, or other statistical packages and graphing tools; working knowledge of Acrobat Professional, Word, PowerPoint, and database management systems (Oracle/SQL Server); flexibility; initiative; excellent written communication skills; and ability to write research reports for different audiences, work as part of a team, and meet regular project deadlines. Research experience within an institution of higher education and significant research and research data management experience combined with an advanced degree are desirable. Working knowledge of Python a plus, as is ability to contribute to website development and maintenance and adapt to data management processes involving multiple programs and outputs. Job #14590-P
