The Ira A Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE), Engineering technical Services (ETS), is seeking an Assistant Director of Digital Transformation and Operational Excellence 
The Assistant Director of Digital Transformation & Operational Excellence at the Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) is pivotal in integrating digital initiatives across academic, business and technology units to enhance collaboration and operational efficiency.  This role strategically aligns efforts, fosters innovation and promotes effective governance and risk management through technology solutions.  Serving as a key change agent, the Assistant Director ensures that digital strategies effectively support FSE’s objectives and business outcomes, facilitating cross-functional teams and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.  This position requires strong leadership, higher education administration, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of technological capabilities and business needs.

Salary Range

$79,950 - $115,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in strategy development and execution aligned with overall FSE goals. 
  • Collaborate and engage with the engineering community to gather insights and feedback, identify outcomes, align strategies and identify innovative opportunities for efficiency and integration across FSE.
  • Champion the adoption of new digital technologies and processes promoting a framework for shared governance. Implement and adhere to digital governance policies to minimize technology risks and protect data privacy and security. 
  • Provide strategic oversight of FSE’s cybersecurity program.
  • Ensure that all digital transformation activities comply with university policies and industry best practices, maintaining compliance and standards across operations. 
  • Utilize change management principles to lead organizational change, driving towards greater digital innovation, agility and organizational efficiency.
  • Oversee the integration of new digital tools and platforms into existing systems.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership in managing and engaging technology teams and programs, fostering collaborative and productive environment. 
  • Focus on aligning work with strategic objectives and business outcomes.
  • Leverage data analytics to inform decision making, develop and maintain dashboards, reports to track progress and outcomes of digital initiatives.  
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, continuous improvement, and adaptability.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in technology, business management, communications or related field and five years of experience leading technical teams, which include three years of supervisory/management experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in analyzing complex problems and develop innovative solutions. 
  • Experience hiring in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard system processes, design, development tools, and delivery methods.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Evidence in having a track record of continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
  • Evidence of effective communication and presentation skills.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Position may involve shared offices, telecommuting, and working at different FSE Campuses as needed.
