Job Description

The Assistant Director will assist the Director of the Information and Impact Center in marketing, developing, organizing and conducting research on academic achievements, research projects and extension programs selectively sourcing and publishing the results through various media outlets and multi-media productions. The Assistant Director will oversee and manage the daily operations of the marketing and communications areas.

This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide statewide support for research, extension, academics and support groups to develop and/or participate in the conceptual design, writing, and layout of annual reports, creating templates for brochures, flyers, scientific proceedings, newsletters, news releases, poster exhibits, and web content. This includes working with outside printing and publication vendors. Ensure compliance of work produced is in alignment with College, University, System, Local and Federal Regulations (USDA).

  • Proofread proposals and manuscripts, prepare and assist in the preparation and composition of grant proposals. Coordinate the development, writing and layout for various presentation formats such as PowerPoint presentation, event photography, and any visual presentation related to CAHS goals and objectives.

  • Provide leadership in organizing or assisting with the College’s events and activities, this also includes alumni, engaging them as volunteers and recruiting active Leadership Team members; Create recognition programs that encourage active alumni participation.

  • Assist the Director in deliverables needed for partnerships, connections and relationships created and established at the University and in the communities.

  • Partners with mission leaders, support leaders and associate areas of the College’s needs.

  • Provide managerial oversight of normal operations of the Information and Impact Center and associate staff members.

  • Works closely with the Agro-Innovation Center (AITC) in updating content on the website that will enhance optimization. Utilize tools such as to better understand and reach our audiences through digital marketing channels.

  • Engages in work with a specific focus on science communication, outreach, managing time-sensitive research-related issues, and other projects as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Six (6) years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of English usage and grammar.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Oral and written communication skills.
