The Assistant Director for Transition Programs serves as the unit lead for orientation programming for new freshmen and transfer students, serves as the primary unit liaison to appropriate committees and work groups related to transition programming, assists the Director with coordination of the Block Scheduling/Learning Community Implementation Team, and provides a wide range of academic advising and retention services for undergraduate students attempting to complete Title 5, California State University (CSU), and San José State University (SJSU) requirements relating to baccalaureate degree requirements. The incumbent develops, coordinates, implements, and assesses academic support and other retention services and programs in accordance with University policies to insure student success through graduation with emphasis on successful transitions. In particular, the Assistant Director for Transition Programs leads both an internal and an external team of advisors to provide transition programming for new incoming students at multiple academic levels, recommends initiatives related to the plan(s), executes the approved plan(s), and evaluates the program(s).
