The Assistant Director for First Generation Outreach and Retention will be pivotal in the academic journey of first-generation college students. Reporting to the Executive Director for Diversity, Inclusivity, and Belonging, the Assistant Director will have primary responsibility for developing and implementing programming and communications to promote the well-being and success of first-generation students. Developing positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the University and support inter-office collaborations and foster awareness of the unique needs of first-generation students among staff and faculty. Responsible for maintaining a planned first-gen lounge, as well as managing social media and online communities dedicated to first-gen students. An understanding of the distinctive challenges first generation college students face, such as navigating unfamiliar academic environment due to lack of familial precedent, will be vital. Must be empathetic and culturally competent, recognizing the diverse backgrounds that first-gen students bring to the table. Organizational skills are imperative for orchestrating outreach programs and workshops that ease the transition into college life. In summary, the Assistant Director for First Generation Outreach and Retention serves as a key player in supporting and guiding first-gen college students.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
