What We Want

TAMIDS is seeking an Assistant Director for Educational Programs who will develop opportunities for credit bearing education and workforce development, lead development and implementation of new programs including collaborations with other TAMU organizations, manage curriculum administration, and oversee operations including program reporting, records management, student advising, and admissions processes.  We seek to hire a candidate who will support our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA) as stated above. The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. degree or terminal degree in Data Science-related or higher education-related field, and have experience working with faculty in curriculum development and implementation, educational program operations, administering educational offerings to working professionals, and with hybrid learning and online education platforms, tools and trends. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six years of education program-based experience, including administration and/or management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage educational programs
  • Ability to coordinate multiple academic, administrative, and operational organizations around common goal
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to comfortably speak to large groups

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. degree or terminal degree in Data Science-related or higher education-related field
  • Experience working with faculty in curriculum development and implementation
  • Experience of education program operations
  • Experience in administering educational offerings to working professionals
  • Experience with hybrid learning and online education platforms, tools and trends

Responsibilities:

  • Education Strategy - Serves on management team for the Institute. Works with TAMIDS Director to develop a strategic plan for credit bearing education and workforce development. Proposes opportunities for TAMIDS to develop new educational programs, including collaboration with Texas A&M and external entities. Identifies opportunities for funding of education programs by industry, federal and state government and their agencies. Liaises with TAMIDS Director, staff, faculty affiliates and other TAMIDS partners in order to identify new opportunities. Handles special projects as assigned by the Director.
  • Program Development - Develops program proposals for credit bearing education and workforce development, including coordinating curriculum, determining procedures and procedures for operations, organizational roles, assessment, recruiting, and budgeting and marketing arrangements. Manages program planning for TAMIDS with operational, delivery and administrative organizations. Manages TAMIDS role in collaborative program development with Texas A&M academic units and external entities. Represents TAMIDS in committees concerned with program development and planning. Identifies and interfaces with current and potential instructors for educational programs, guiding learning objective creation, course scope and sequence establishment, and potential employer needs and requirement elicitations in consultation with TAMIDS leadership. Ensures consistency in rigor for face-to-face and distance learning options for educational programs. Manages TAMIDS role in collaborative program development with Texas A&M academic units and external entities. Represents TAMIDS in committees concerned with program development and planning. Stays current on applicable federal and state policies and guidelines to ensure that University admissions meet federal and state regulations.
  • Program Implementation - Directs TAMIDS operations in educational programs. Works with TAMIDS staff, faculty collaborators, organizational partners in TAMU and externally to ensure high quality delivery, represents TAMIDS in committees for concerned with program oversight and operations. Directs marketing, publicity, and outreach to generate candidates, and sets quantifiable goals for recruiting. Directs administrative functions including applications, admission and record keeping. Monitors on-time submission of grades by the instructors for educational offerings. Prepares program statistics, records, databases, reports, and communications. Provides information for, and coordinates with, university offices on course, instructor, and student evaluations and other documentation. Develops, maintains, and distributes handbooks for the programs that will be used by program participants. Performs other duties as assigned.
