Job Description

Serves as a member of the Financial Aid senior staff and is a supervisory position.  Assists with planning and implementation of financial aid policy and processes.  The position additionally requires a high amount of contact with many varying constituencies via telephone, e-mail, written and face-to-face communication.

*The potential salary for this position ranges from $38,676 to $43,000 and is contingent on the candidates previous experience and/or qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the operation and administration of aid programs in order to comply with Federal, State, and University policies and procedures.

  • Provides key, lead technical support for efficient, accurate automation of departmental functions and delivery of communication with constituents.

  • Organize and complete verification paperwork, citizenship paperwork, dependency overrides & special circumstances.

  • Develops rules, reports, and automated routines to maximize and support the management of aid programs.

  • Reviews and verifies Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) data tax returns and supplemental documents, as required by Federal, State, and/ or institutional regulations.

  • Coordinates entrance and exit interviews for student loan borrowers in order to inform them of their responsibility regarding loan repayment.

  • Monitors information from the Department of Education regarding changes in regulations for verification and other required documents from students.

  • Contributes to the effective team management of relevant problems, issues, and opportunities.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Six (6) years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Experience in an academic setting.

  • Knowledge/familiarity with state and federal aid programs as well as ability to reconcile accounts. 

  • Familiar with Colleague software

  • Ability to multi-task with varying deadlines.

  • Ability to work comfortably with a variety of personalities and skills.
