The University of Pittsburgh’s Child Welfare Education and Research Programs (CWERP) is seeking an Assistant Director for Finance, Human Resources & Administration (AD). The AD oversees the financial, administrative, general operations, and human resources functions for the CWERP programs, which include two statewide education programs, Child Welfare Education for Baccalaureates (CWEB) and Child Welfare Education for Leadership (CWEL); the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center (CWRC); and the Allegheny County Office of Children, Youth and Families training department.  Responsibilities include preparation and/or review of funding proposals and budgets, contract negotiations/monitoring & spending, invoicing, forecasting/account analysis and coordination of human resources & payroll functions. The AD provides input on strategic direction of the CWERP programs along with the Principal Investigator, CWRC Director and CWRC Assistant Director.  The AD ensures compliance with University policies/procedures and consistence with applicable state/federal statutes, regulations and guidelines. Effective working relationships with Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services, Office of Children, Youth and Families personnel as well as other University department staff is essential. MBA, CPA or CMA and University experience preferred.

The CWERP programs operate in a hybrid work approach where work can be completed remotely as permitted under a Flexible Work Agreement. Some travel required. Experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse populations preferred. A commitment to achieving equity and inclusion in the child welfare system is a must. Job Summary

Oversees administrative, financial, general operations, and human resources functions within a complex department or departments. Performs budgetary functions and fiscal related activities. Serves as liaison between internal and external stakeholders and mitigates complex issues. Supports the strategic plan, directs proposals, assists with policy and procedure, and prepares documents and analyses for senior leadership.


Essential Functions 

Operate computers and other office equipment, communicate effectively with management contacts, perform under pressure of numerous deadlines, perform multiple job tasks and projects simultaneously, perform job functions independently and with minimal supervision.


Physical Effort 

Must be able to travel long distances.  Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
