In this position, you will lead projects aligning learning solutions for employees, especially leaders, while designing, piloting, and evaluating development programs. As the assistant director, you will help with researching, preparing, and delivering various training programs and assessing their effectiveness while maintaining learning resources. This role maintains their effectiveness by researching industry trends and integrating emerging technologies into program design. The assistant director of employee development drives employee productivity, retention, and skills by fostering a culture of growth and learning throughout the university.

 

As the assistant director, your responsibilities will include contributing to projects focused on aligning learning development solutions, managing, and executing deliverables, tracking, and reporting on project status, and keeping to the timeline. You must coordinate with subject matter experts and vendors to ensure the quality and relevance of content while providing guidance during training sessions. As the assistant director, you must develop and maintain learning resources, such as training manuals, to support ongoing employee development initiatives while researching and responding to industry trends.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, education, organizational psychology, business administration, or a related field
  • At least eight years of experience in learning and development in higher education with an expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, training delivery, and coaching with a strong understanding of adult learning principles
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, learning management systems (LMS), eLearning authoring tools, with skills and ability to produce deliverables with accuracy and excellence
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with the ability to integrate these principles into employee development initiatives

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree

 

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • SHRM, ATD and/or related training certifications and credentials highly desired

 

Travel required:

  • 10% to 20%

 

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
