Position Description: | The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) seeks to engage, explore, and enhance the practice of teaching and the culture of learning at UNI. To these ends, the CETL:
This new position will support faculty in the effective and ethical use of new (generative AI, e.g.) and existing technologies in teaching and learning, an effort that also entails a contemporary and forward looking understanding of information literacy. Faculty and students alike will benefit from such support as they negotiate evolving landscapes of thought, communication, and discovery. This work is ultimately grounded in sustainable principles that must inform our values and priorities. Primary responsibilities include: facilitates opportunities for faculty to engage in discussion and understanding of trends in teaching and learning contexts; works with faculty to design and deliver programming related to emerging and innovative technologies in teaching and learning, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), digital media, and information/digital/data literacy, across disciplines; develops programming on the effective and ethical use of emerging technologies and media; creates and curates learning materials, tutorials, and resources that guide both faculty and students in understanding the most up-to-date sweep of information literacy, AI, and other innovative technologies; stays abreast of trends in emerging and innovative technologies that are impacting higher education, teaching, and research; and researches and recommends AI tools and platforms that align with the institution's pedagogical goals and enhances student learning outcomes. |
Education Requirements: | Bachelor's degree required. |
Required Qualifications: | At least two years of combined experience with emerging and innovative technologies, pedagogy, and/or educational programming; demonstrated record of effective teaching or professional training; fluency in information, digital, and technological literacy; and demonstrated record of innovating, guiding, advising, or collaborating with others on the use of emerging technologies in an education environment required. |
Desirable Qualifications: | Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences; novel and informed use of generative artificial intelligence in educational settings; demonstrated understanding and engagement with digital technologies, including awareness of both security and pedagogical perspectives; knowledge of a wide range of innovative technology tools, platforms, and software used in teaching and learning, ideally with significant experience leveraging these opportunities for practical and measurable gains in teaching and learning; and experience in organizing and delivering effective workshops, training sessions, and/or professional development programs, particularly in higher education preferred. |
