GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under direction of the Senior Director, Constituent Engagement, the Assistant Director of Constituent Engagement Programs manages all mass solicitation activities for alumni, student, parent, and faculty/staff audiences. Through coordinated multi-channel plan that reflects consistent messaging and segmentation, the assistant director executes all mass solicitations through crowdfunding, digital, and phonathon channels. This role will hire, train, and manage student workers to achieve the goals of the phonathon program. They will be a key collaborator in team strategy by tracking channel performance, analyzing results, and communicating opportunities for improvement and adjustment to fiscal year strategy.
COMMUNICATIONS
Will communicate with students, alumni, and donors, as well as Advancement staff, and other campus partners. Communication types will include written, verbal, print and electronic vehicles. Must have excellent interpersonal skill.
Must consistently demonstrate professional, positive, and approachable attitude and discretion.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
The Assistant Director must be customer service oriented, providing professional and timely, high quality interaction with internal and external constituents.
Special Schedule Requirements
Flexible working schedule to work nights to accommodate call center hours, and occasional weekends, and minimal travel required.

Qualifications


Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years experience in fundraising, preferably in a university setting.
- Experience in project management preferred
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge NXT, JustGiving, and Guided Fundraising or similar platforms a plus
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of and enthusiasm for fundraising and the mission of higher education. Solid written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to edit and proofread. Ability to manage multiple projects. Creative thinker who is able to collaborate across multiple teams. Basic Word and Excel skills required, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, JustGiving, or Guided Fundraising skills preferred. Good organization skills to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
- No exempt/non-exempt supervision.
- Manages Phonathon student calling staff

Key Responsibilities


Key Responsibility
Management of Illinois Tech Ambassadors program (Phonathon) – Manages the Illinois Tech Advancement Ambassadors program to maximize the number of donors and revenue, with support of student managers. Hires, trains, and supervises student managers/callers; leads team strategy to achieve fundraising metrics; and incentivizes them in a manner consistent with departmental goals. Plans annual calling calendar – focused on engagement and solicitation, develops appropriate scripts, and ensures high quality student communications with alumni. Tracks and reports on key phonathon metrics including participation, gift rates, pledge fulfillment, and overall revenue raised. The Assistant Director will serve as the area owner of the phone component of the Giving Day plan.
The Assistant Director will also project manage the relationship and program for phonathon calling for the Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Key Responsibility
Management of crowdfunding program. This person will collaborate with campus partners to develop content and strategy for the crowdfunding program, using Blackbaud JustGiving.

Key Responsibility
Liaison to the Career & Professional Development Committee of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. This role meets regularly with the chair of the committee, as well as partners from the Office of Career Services to develop the agenda and strategy for the C&PD committee. This individual collaborates on the strategy to recruit mentors for the Student-Alumni Mentoring Program.
