Assistant Director, Center for Digital Humanities

The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) at Princeton seeks an Assistant Director to advance the Center's mission of fostering innovative research at the intersections of humanities, data, and computer science.  As a collaborative and strategic thinker, the Assistant Director will bring experience with digital humanities (DH) scholarship, as well as excellence in project management and program administration. They will help shape the humanities data landscape at Princeton and will find creative solutions for communicating CDH research to multiple audiences. The Assistant Director will contribute to scholarship through publications, presentations and occasional teaching or co-teaching. They may serve as PI or co-PI on faculty collaborations or (with University approval) externally-funded grants. This position qualifies for 20% individual R&D time. 

This Assistant Director will report to the Associate Director, and will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professional Specialist or higher.

Specific responsibilities include: 
*Overseeing the full arc of the CDH grants program: crafting CFPs, establishing timelines, coordinating intake, and overseeing project implementation, management, and assessment.  
*Contributing domain expertise to CDH-sponsored projects.
*Building collaborative relationships such as joint grants or programs with campus partners. 
*Leading the CDH consultations program: tracking and reporting on consultations and working with peer units for resource and information-sharing.
*Consulting Princeton faculty, students, and staff on DH best practices and advising on grant applications for both internal and external funding.
*Helping to implement and manage the CDH's communications, publicity and outreach initiatives. The Assistant Director may manage the Center's Communications staff. 
*Participating in the administration of the CDH by attending leadership meetings, providing updates, and engaging in CDH-sponsored events.
*Overseeing special projects, such as annual reports, conferences or lecture series. 

Essential Qualifications
*Doctorate in a humanities or DH-related discipline strongly preferred; MA required. 
*At least 2 years' experience working in a similar environment with similar responsibilities. 
*Proven success managing or coordinating a range of DH projects or programs.
*Demonstrated familiarity with common DH methods, such as data curation, text analysis, mapping, or visualization.
*Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and a high degree of professionalism and initiative.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Ability to think creatively, work independently and function effectively as part of a team.
*Ability to cultivate and maintain productive professional relationships across disciplines.
*Ability to handle varied, multiple, and competing priorities.
