Job Description

The Assistant Director of Student Business Services, under direction, is responsible for the oversight of receipting and accounts receivable, direction and training of cashiering and collections staff, and  oversight of eCommerce programs and PCI compliance certifications.

The Assistant Director of Student Business Services, under direction, is responsible for the oversight of receipting and accounts receivable, direction and training of cashiering and collections staff, and oversight of eCommerce programs and PCI compliance certifications.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operations of the department.

  • Provides leadership to the department by ensuring that customer needs are met with efficient services that are timely and appropriate.

  • Manages daily balancing of drawers, completes daily deposits, and acts as lead cashier when necessary.

  • Opens office and vault and closes and secures office and vault on rotational schedule.

  • Directs and trains the junior staff in the office and provides oversight for all collection activities of the department.

  • Reconciles all Automated Clearing House (ACH) activity in Money/Connect/Cashiering System/Banner databases to applicable finance accounting management information databases on a daily basis.

  • Oversees all aspects of eCommerce programs and related PCI compliance.

  • Prepares deposits and spreadsheets for vendor payments, and maintains invoicing for various accounts receivable accounts.

  • Serves as AR lead for any software implementations, upgrades or patches impacting Student Business Services.

  • Oversees creation and updating of guidelines and procedures manuals; and ensures that System and University policies and state and federal regulations are upheld.

  • Serves as key committee member that reviews course drops for non-payment and approves/denies appeals for retroactive withdrawals.

  • Coordinates with Director and other departments on various projects, implementations, and reports.

  • Oversees Student Business Services in the absence of the Director of Business Services.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field

  • Six years of related experience in accounting.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Masters Degree

  • Higher Education experience in applicable field (3-5 years)

  • Banner Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Other Requirements:
Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
