Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Business & Finance, the Assistant Director will lead the Business & Finance team in University Housing. They will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the day to day financial operations of the team for University Housing, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Dining Services.

Essential Duties

  • Assists in the management of the department and serves as a resource for the Director regarding requirements and trends in department.
  • Researches, Calculates, & processes the payments to our 3rd party property partners
  • Performs Meal Plan Reconciliation
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates 2 Professional Staff Members
  • Serves as the Department Time Administrator for the Business & Finance team student workers
  • Oversees and participates in planning, developing and administering department budget.
  • Prepares or coordinates preparation of financial and administrative reports; analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long range plans.
  • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs.
  • Keeps compliance on trainings within Housing, Dining, & Fraternity & Sorority Life
  • Resolves problems and issues affecting the department and recommends measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
  • May act in place of the Director in that person's absence.

Days and Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, to include extended hours as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Supervision experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
  • Experience developing, monitoring and analyzing budgets
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing priorities with tight deadlines
  • Experience preparing detailed financial information for a variety of constituencies
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel including the experience in utilizing pivot tables and look up functions
  • Experience in Workday, Peoplesoft, Concur and/or StarRez

Working Environment

  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Use computers effectively including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, using mouse and keyboard, and sitting
