Position Function
Determine financial aid eligibility, perform need analysis and determine appropriate aid packages for students. Relay this information to support Cardinal Central staff so they can provide financial aid advising information to students, parents and other seeking financial aid assistance.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience
At least one year of financial aid experience based upon job qualifications and the provided rankings of the required responsibilities.
Minimum Other
Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with all public; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to perform mathematical calculations; skilled in using personal computer.
Authorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree.
Preferred Experience
At least five years of financial aid experience based upon job qualifications and the provided rankings of the required responsibilities, supervisory experience.
Preferred Other
Pre-Employment Screening Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

Job Duty
Coordinate state grant and scholarship programs including 21st Century, O’Bannon, Next Generation Educators Scholarship, Minority Teacher Scholarship, Student Teaching stipends, and the Mitch Daniels Early Graduation Scholarship.

Job Duty
Serve as a contact to the U.S. Department of Education and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE) in the resolution of conflicting data regarding student eligibility and payment of funds; ensure timely reconciliation of funds based upon established program deadlines.

Serve as a contact to the U.S. Department of Education and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE) in the resolution of conflicting data regarding student eligibility and payment of funds; ensure timely reconciliation of funds based upon established program deadlines.

Review and determine validity of data submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and determine when corrections are needed. Process necessary corrections; perform need analysis; determine cost of attendance; package/repackage financial aid.

Review and determine Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) of students at the end of each semester. Notify students when their SAP status has put them in an ineligibility (Fail) status. Review student academic standing and academic plans (submitted by advisors and faculty). Review and determine future aid eligibility of students who are currently ineligible for financial aid due to SAP. Communicate strategies for successfully maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

Promote financial aid awareness through verbal and written communication; this includes admissions outreach events, orientation, high school financial aid nights and other requested information sessions.

Support the review of consumer information, web site information, office publications and forms to ensure they are current, consistent and effective.

In support of federal and state audits, the Assistant Director performs secondary reviews of verification, Return to Title IV calculations, and Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development of personnel.

Serve as liaison with other university offices.

Work as a key member of OFAS to support Cardinal Central in providing impactful customer service for students, parents, and others seeking financial aid assistance.

Attend professional training to maintain knowledge of federal, state and other program-related information. Attend in-house training for discussions of processes and procedures and provide input for recommended changes.
