Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, Alumni Development and Engagement Strategy and working closely with the staff of Columbia College Alumni Affairs and Development (“CCAAD”), the Assistant Director collaborates with the Executive Director to develop and manage the annual fund marketing strategy for Columbia College.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal and external constituencies to develop and implement multi-channel (direct mail, email, phone, social) data-driven marketing strategies to cultivate donors and increase donor participation to Columbia College. 
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the annual fund marketing strategy and work with internal and external partners to ensure projects are completed according to plan.
  • Coordinate design and production of all materials, and produce direct mail, email and social copy. Develop scripts to support the student calling program.
  • Oversee the College’s major campaigns, including Giving Day and the School’s spring challenge. Use data to create performance benchmarks and communication strategies for these major campaigns that help drive donor participation.
  • Develop goals and metrics, including analyzing renewal, retention, and acquisition rates, on College giving and alumni engagement to support assessment and short- and long-term planning.
  • Partner with the donor relations team to develop a coordinated solicitation and stewardship strategy.
  • Use research on alumni giving patterns to improve solicitation techniques and goal setting.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent related experience required.
  • Strong interest in marketing strategy and data analysis. Due to the collaborative nature of the role, it is key that the incumbent demonstrates a high regard for teamwork and the collective achievement of departmental goals.
  • A minimum of two years of related work experience (i.e., annual giving, non-profit management/fundraising, marketing, and communications) required.
  • Excellent writing, editing, research, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set deadlines, determine priorities and monitor results required.

  • High attention to detail and an eye for accuracy required.

  • Overall proficiency with computers and computer software (Word and Excel) is required, including an ability to learn new software.

  • Must be self-directed and motivated, able to manage multiple and complex assignments and meet deadlines and production schedules both independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters and maintain confidentiality. 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritize.
  • A high level of proficiency with analyzing data in Excel.
