Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is strongly committed to addressing the mental health needs of a diverse student body through timely access to consultation and connection to clinically appropriate services. Position Summary
This Assistant Director and Psychology Training Coordinator position directs our predoctoral and practicum training programs which provide exceptional service to UNC students as well as a great training opportunity for psychology students interested in working on university counseling. In addition to coordinating the training program this position also offers direct service to the students in the form of individual and group psychotherapy. The position reports to the director of CAPS, and serves as a member of the management team.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant professional degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and licensure in the appropriate clinical field of psychology, social work, or mental health practice.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist in the State of North Carolina. Minimum of three or more years of clinical experience with adolescents and young adults; prior experience in university counseling context; experience with diverse populations including international, minority, and individuals with disabilities. Experience with supervision of clinical trainees, knowledge and relevant experience in the areas of clinical training and supervision.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Knowledge, skills, and attitude: -Have a special interest in the university setting and the processes of maturation which occur during college years, undergraduate and graduate. -Have an ability to work with other professional staff and support staff to produce integrated professional services.
