Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director of the WT Alumni Association, the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations will organize and coordinate alumni programs to strengthen the relations between the University and the Alumni.  Outreach to WT Alumni and alumni relations is an essential and ongoing function of the WT Alumni Association.  The Director and Assistant Director will work together to execute strategies to reach alumni through marketing, alumni events, and continual communication to create a community of connectedness and engagement for the Alumni of West Texas A&M University.


Responsibilities:

  • Leads efforts to initiate, develop and implement alumni chapters in specified geographical locations as well as alumni networks.  Attend chapter meetings and events as needed.

  • Assists with developing, planning, and executing activities that will engage alumni and the University community (Homecoming, reunions, alumni events, etc.)

  • Initiate alumni network meetings and events through the University’s Colleges.  Assists in building membership to the College Networks.

  • Contributes to written drafts and scripts for alumni events, functions and services. 

  • Serves on committees for the WT Alumni Association, Philanthropy and External Relations, and the University.

  • Manages timely and engaging material for web content, social media content, and identifies opportunities for online engagement.

  • Assists with WT Alumni Association membership data, campaigns, and reports. Assists with strategic planning and implementation of appeals for alumni membership retention and membership growth.

  • Plans and implements alumni outreach by identifying and coordinating volunteers.

  • Seeks out opportunities to support and implement the WT Alumni Association’s Strategic Plan.

  • Other duties assigned

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2 years related experience in public relations/event planning/external relations, marketing, customer service or strategic partnerships.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Excellent in oral and written communication skills.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently with given project.

  • Desire and acumen to interface with the public and represent the University.

  • Demands of this position are beyond 8-5, must be able to travel and work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in applicable field

  • Working knowledge of university operations related to engagement of multiple constituencies.
