Job Summary
 

The Assistant Director, Academic Services has a primary focus of academic advising and support for MBA students. The Assistant Director supports full-time MBA students in Hyde Park and evening MBA and weekend MBA students at the downtown campus. This individual is responsible for ensuring a successful MBA program experience for all students.
This positon will work at the Hyde Park campus as well as downtown at Gleacher center.

Responsibilities

  • Advises students on course selection/planning and helps manage career and professional trade-offs during their program of study.
  • Educates and communicates with students concerning administrative and academic policies and requirements to ensure progression to degree.
  • Supports students with academic issues, including academic progress, personal challenges impacting academics, and working with faculty.
  • Manages a portfolio of several key academic areas and their associated processes.
  • Develops and provides content support for Academic Advising instructional videos used for onboarding new students.
  • Develops and manages online advising tools including the Program of Study Tool, Course Search and course descriptions, and curriculum web pages.
  • Liaise between students and faculty as necessary.
  • Proctors accommodated exams.
  • Completes special projects.
  • Advises students with minor academic difficulties and counseling while responding to queries from faculty, staff and parents.
  • Keeps records of student degree programs and notes on student conversations.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in an academically related field.

Experience:

  • At least one year of responsible experience in higher education.
  • Experience in academic advising, including a strong understanding of the MBA curriculum.

Working Conditions

  • Work evening and weekend hours, including Saturday rotations and evening student appointments/events as necessary.
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
