The Opportunity:

The Student Success and Well-Being Experiential Learning Department is seeking an Assistant Director, Academic Program (internally called Assistant Director for Experiential Learning). In this position, the Assistant Director supports the course designation process for all High-Impact Practice (HIP) courses within the Division of Student Success and Well-Being. This position serves as a member of the office leadership team assisting the director with office operations. The Assistant Director provides leadership of Service Learning program activities including, maintaining community partnerships and on-campus collaborations, facilitating faculty development workshops, regularly assessing program effectiveness, and budget planning. This position serves as campus lead for our SL Course and Integrative Learning Experiences (IE) Designations, including management and implementation. Additionally, it provides critical administrative support regarding integrative learning experiences including Knight of Distinction and the additional HIP course designations including Research Intensive (RI) and Global Learning (GL). This position works campus-wide with academic departments and closely with OUR who host the other RI course designation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops policies for the Service-Learning & Integrative-Learning Experience program and interprets university and community policies as it relates to those areas.

  • Directs the Service-Learning program and Integrative-Learning Experience and is responsible for program development.

  • Supervises the OPS Academic Advisor. Position will provide indirect support/supervision to 2 Graduate Assistants assigned to the Knights of Distinction program.

  • This position is also responsible for requesting SGA funds for SL scholarships (approx. $15,000 annually).

  • Constant interaction with faculty, administrators, community partners, and external agencies. Supporting faculty through course designation process and building relationships with community partners to establish SL sites.

  • Oversight of student assessment data and statistical data for service-learning and integrative-learning experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) . 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Administrative experience or leadership role in higher education.

  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, function effectively in a team with colleagues, and interact well with students.

  • Ability to create and maintain community partnerships.

  • Previous higher education course management and assessment.

  • Previous higher education committee experience related to the course designation process.

  • Effective communication skills, including grant and report writing, oral presentation, and computer web-based communication.

  • Organizational ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Ability to develop and carry out plans for program development.

  • Ability to assess program functioning and student learning.

  • Effectively organize events.

  • Ability to travel to visit community sites, including Downtown UCF Campus.
