Job Description Summary:
GW’s School of Nursing (GW Nursing) drives innovation and improvements in health care worldwide through the education of compassionate nurses, esteemed educators and scholars/researchers, entrepreneurial leaders, and influential policy experts. GW Nursing is searching for an Assistant Dean of Student Enrollment and Success to provide leadership for all functional areas including student services, enrollment management, recruitment and retention, admissions, registration, undergraduate and graduate student advising, orientation, and degree certification. This position will report to the Dean of the School of Nursing.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Provides visionary leadership, strategy and direction for all aspects of enrollment management and student services.
  • Accountable for recruitment, management, professional development, and retention of direct reports and staff in enrollment management and student services.
  • Collaborates with GW Nursing leadership and other university officials to ensure departmental processes are accurate, timely, and in compliance with federal and university policies and regulations, while maintaining the highest level of service to students and the campus community.
  • Oversees the planning, assignment, and evaluation of the Student Services department for effective operation and results.
  • Creates and executes a data driven strategy and comprehensive plan to attract and enroll students. Develops an integrated communication/marketing strategy in support of this plan, and on-going monitoring activities to evaluate, both formatively and summative, the success of the plan.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of student enrollment and student informational areas. Ensures the security, integrity, and maintenance of student records.
  • Seeks and maintains currency in student services, enrollment management and higher education through professional development including attendance at conferences, workshops and seminars.
  • Researches best practices, new developments and innovative student services and enrollment strategies in higher education.
  • Recommends changes to maintain relevance of programs and services to meet student and institutional needs.
  • Designs and executes data tracking and evaluation system to assess and monitor student progress.
  • Responsible and accountable for compliance with all state regulations, federal laws, GW Nursing and GWU policies.
  • Interprets and analyzes data related to services offered to monitor, evaluate and adjust as needed for continuous improvement of the department.
  • Develops and manages budget for Student Services, monitors expenditures, and allocates resources to achieve department goals.
  • Works closely with Academic Affairs to ensure effective scheduling and communication of program information.
  • Partners with Communication and Marketing shared services to assist in the development of web, print publications and other media marketing for identifying, attracting, admitting and enrolling new students.
  • Works collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, and with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.
  • Researches and implements best practices in student services, admissions and enrollment management to ensure matriculation and retention of diverse student cohorts.
  • Establishes working relationships with senior leadership, staff, faculty, and other university leaders to engage in conversations about enrollment priorities, shifting demographics, recruitment, financial aid allocation, retention, branding, and alumni engagement.

Performs other related duties as assigned, which will be varied and substantial given the significance of this role within GW Nursing and the University.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 8 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong background in enrollment management in the higher education segment with management and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups of constituents.
  • Broad administrative experience in higher education, and extensive knowledge of information technology required to strategically manage student information, admissions, registration and records, and the administration of financial aid.
  • Evidence of exceptional planning, organizational, communications, and team building skills.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, and familiarity with standard computer applications for student affairs, database management and statistical analysis (Banner). Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.).
Typical Hiring Range Commensurate with Experience.
