The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master’s degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Today, the School is renowned for its academic programs, its research and its commitment to clinical and community service within state, national and global communities.
Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing (SON), a research-intensive, top-ranked school of nursing seeks outstanding candidates for the professor rank and the Assistant Dean for Innovation in Teaching and Learning in the School of Nursing. The ADITL is an innovative and visionary leader who leads pedagogical transformation at the SON
This faculty appointment includes 50% administrative effort and 50% faculty effort, with responsibilities for teaching, scholarship, and service per SON APR guidelines. This position will hold a secondary administrative appointment of Assistant Dean for Teaching and Learning.
The ADITL directs evidence based curricular initiatives and innovations, program accreditation and evaluation efforts, and leads faculty development in teaching to advance the science of nursing education in collaboration with the faculty and administrative team. In addition, the ADITL develops strategies to recruit, onboard, and retain top talent for the School of Nursing to support teaching and learning. 
Administrative-Specific Responsibilities Include:
* Develop, implement, and evaluate a strategic plan for a new Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning at the UNC-CH SON in alignment with the SON strategic plan focused on recruiting, developing, and retaining school talent in alignment with the teaching mission.
* Incorporate NLN Core Competencies for Academic Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Educators in faculty development activities for those teaching in the SON.
* Collaborate and partner with SON leaders for academic nursing retention efforts.
* Lead the development of faculty in teaching and learning.
* Pioneer curricular innovations incorporating digital initiatives when appropriate.
* Lead NLN Center of Excellence initiatives and designation within the SON.
* Coordinate implementation of the SON Academic Evaluation Plan in collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
* Provide leadership in developing and implementing programs to support the pedagogical expertise of those teaching in the school of nursing, including classroom, online, simulation, clinical, and other learning environments.
* Partner with other schools to identify areas for collaboration and implementation of joint programs.
* Serve as liaison between SON and University to strengthen faculty expertise in innovative teaching and learning practices.
* Seek external funding opportunities to support the Center’s strategic plan and priorities.
* Champion efforts related to the scholarship of teaching and educational excellence. 
* Provide support and guidance to faculty who are pursuing research related to the science of nursing education. 
* Support faculty seeking external funding for education and training grants in collaboration with the Grant Proposal Coordinator and Editor.
* Supervise the grant proposal coordinator, instructional designer, and other support staff in the Center.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Earned doctorate in nursing or related discipline 
Experience working in academic clinical environments 
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, practice, mentorship, and scholarly productivity
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Earned doctorate degree and demonstrate relevant national leadership related to one or more of the following: nursing curricular development; program evaluation; evidence based educational methods for both online and on-ground programs; nursing educational scholarship; faculty development and mentoring; and an awareness of external issues impacting nursing education

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
