Job Summary:

The Assistant Dean for Experiential Education will have primary oversight for the experiential education curriculum for The School of Pharmacy. The Assistant Dean for Experiential Education provides academic leadership as it relates to all aspects of experiential education: development of contemporary experiential education curriculum, evaluation of the introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiential courses, oversight for quality assurance, ongoing preceptor engagement and the annual preceptor training forum (200-300 clinical affiliates). This position, at the rank of clinical assistant or associate professor, serves as a direct report to the Executive Associate Dean for the School of Pharmacy. This position oversees the experiential department of the School, which consists of the Director of Experiential Education and the Coordinator of Experiential Education.

Required Qualifications:

1. Doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) with pharmacy practice experience. Prior experience as a preceptor with a College/School of Pharmacy required. Completion of post-graduate clinical residency is desired; additional clinical experience after residency completion is strongly preferred. Experience managing/leading cross-functional teams strongly preferred.

2. Current pharmacist licensure in good standing.

3. Ideal candidate will:
a. Have an understanding of academic pharmacy, experiential education, and ACPE accreditation standards related to curriculum and experiential education;
b. Demonstrate a desire to participate in expanding new educational platforms, including learning/evaluating new emerging technologies in higher education;
c. Demonstrate leadership and initiative in supporting School’s assessment and accreditation efforts;
d. Possess excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty and external constituents;
e. Be able to work independently and as an effective team member;
f. Have a record of accomplishment in scholarship, teaching and/or service eligible for academic appointment at the rank of clinical assistant or associate professor;
g. Have a vision for the future of pharmacy education.

4. Valid driver’s license and accessibility to transportation for travel between campuses and to off-site locations.

5. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
