IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law seeks a dynamic and seasoned fundraising professional to serve as Assistant Dean for Advancement and play a key role in IIT’s $500 million campaign. As the Law School’s chief fundraising officer, the successful candidate will be a team player, self-confident, energetic and motivated with a strong sense of urgency in creating solutions. This position calls for excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. It reports directly to the Dean of the College of Law, with dotted line reporting relationship to IIT Associate Vice President for Major Gifts and Gift Planning.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 7-10 years of fundraising experience, preferably with background in fundraising for a law or other professional school or other higher education institution.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibility

Plan and implement a strategic, integrated advancement program including alumni relations, major and leadership giving, annual giving, law firm and corporate relations, special fundraising projects, donor recognition and stewardship. Manage staff of three.

Key Responsibility

Manage a portfolio of 50-75 prospects with gift potential of $250,000 or more, develop individual solicitation strategies for key prospects, and solicit and close major gifts.

Key Responsibility

In close coordination with IIT’s Institutional Advancement staff, plan, organize and execute a successful comprehensive campaign for IIT Chicago-Kent, including determination of fundraising potential of the Chicago-Kent alumni and friend base, development of campaign fundraising objectives and campaign case, establishment campaign volunteer leadership structure and campaign execution. Integrate the Chicago-Kent team closely with IIT Institutional Advancement staff to maximize efficiencies of scale, expertise and systems, and to execute a synergistic program in Chicago, nationally and internationally. Participate in Advancement staff meetings and planning sessions as required; adhere to all relevant Advancement policies and processes.

Key Responsibility

Design a development-focused alumni communication and engagement program in concert with alumni relations staff that supports the development of an active, growing base of engaged Chicago-Kent alumni, and is tied to fundraising objectives of identifying, qualifying and cultivating prospects for giving to the school.

Key Responsibility

Develop and maintain relationships with Law School’s senior staff, faculty and students to achieve a culture of philanthropy, effectively working with faculty and staff to ensure that students have a positive experience during their time at Chicago-Kent, and that a network of faculty, staff and alumni provide post-graduation career networking and support, in order to build an engaged community and maximize the potential for philanthropic support for the school in future years.
