Position Summary
Assist the head coach with all aspects of the Women’s Rowing program including but not limited to: working with the Head Coach on all aspects of the varsity team including, but limited to, promoting team concepts and visions of the Head Coach. Must to work well with others while promoting safety, helping to organize team practices and carry out practice plans created by the Head Coach. Must be able to promote excellence in academics and help instruct positive life-skills for student-athletes. Responsible for maintaining all equipment (boats, oars, ergs, launches, truck/trailer maintenance and driving, etc.). Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach all within the rules of the NCAA, ACC and UNC. Integrity, initiative, leadership and being a team player as well as a thorough knowledge of the sport are required. Must have a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified student-athletes.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. All degrees must be from fully accredited institutions.
Qualifications and Experience
2-5 years of coaching experience in an intercollegiate environment preferably at a Division I level or competitive collegiate rowing experience. Knowledge of and familiarity NCAA rules and regulations as they apply to the sport of rowing. Must possess strong organizational, administrative, interpersonal and computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel A valid driver’s license required. Must be able to lift/move heavy objects of 50 lbs or more.
