Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Part-time Assist Coach. Reporting to the Head Coach for the Department of Athletics.
The Assistant Coach duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of developing and maintaining a successful NCAA Div III team and program
- Assist the Athletics Department in Fundraising initiative and activities as necessary
- Assist with recruiting and retaining athletically and academically qualified student-athletes
- Assist with planning and conducting team practices
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director/Head Coach.

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Also requires a minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience in an administrative and/or supervisory function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
- OR -
Requires a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience in the discipline. A master’s degree in a specialized discipline may be required, particularly in research, project management, or managerial positions. Also requires a minimum of five years experience and/or increasing functional responsibility in a leadership/managerial role. With a master’s degree requirement, a minimum of three years of related experience is acceptable. Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Coaching experience at college or high school level
- Computer literate
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent oral/written communications skills
- Willingness to work varied hours, including nights and weekends
- Demonstrated ability to successfully recruit to an NCAA Div III institution
- Must be knowledgeable of NCAA Div III, ECAC, and NJAC regulations and committed to adhering to all conference and institutional regulations

Equipment Utilized

- Sporting equipment unique to the team.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

- Must be able to work under sometimes challenging physical conditions and to
- Must be able to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs, per OSHA standards.
