The Nursing Department of The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a non-tenure track prepared nursing faculty at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level, depending on the experience and accomplishments of the candidate.  Responsibilities will include effective classroom and clinical instruction, student recruitment, and advising.  Candidates will have demonstrated evidence of research/creative/professional activities or the potential to design and complete research/creative/professional activity, including curriculum development and program evaluation. The position also includes service to the institution through department and College committees, participation in College and departmental programs and activities, and professional and community service.

A Master’s degree in Nursing is required with preference given to an applicant who has experience in Psych/Mental Health or Medical Surgical Nursing and simulation experience. A current Virginia nursing licensure or licensure eligibility is essential. A doctoral degree is preferred and necessary for appointment to the assistant professor level.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to leadership within the nursing department through the recruitment, advising, and mentoring of undergraduate students.   In addition, the applicant should be prepared to serve as an advocate for the role of nursing in a public liberal arts institution.
