Assistant Coach- Football

Provides administrative, instructional, and recruiting support services to an athletic program while ensuring adherance to the highest professional standards, ethical behavior, and in accordance with all HU Athletic Department, Ohio Athletics Conference, NCAA and Title IX standards, rules, and regulations. 

  • Assists in scheduling practice, conditioning, training and athletic program event sessions.
  • Arranges travel including transportation, meals, hotel, etc. for student-athletes, coaches, and equipment.
  • Creates and maintains records of student-athletes, training, practices, games, performance statistics, equipment, etc.  Creates reports and summarizes associated with these records and data as required.
  • Provides data associated with and for athletic budget. 
  • Acts as Game Manager for other sports' teams as assigned.
  • Schedules, facilitates and supervises training, workout, conditioning, and practice sessions ensuring that facilities are ready and available as needed.
  • Tracks equipment; ensures that equipment is functioning properly; schedules on-going and/or emergency maintenance as necessary.
  • Assists in designing sessions that maximize student-athlete development and performance while emphasizing safety.
  • Evaluates student-athlete training and performance and recommends changes to improve performance.
  • Assists in recruitment activities of student-atheletes in coordination with Admissions.
  • Monitors academic progress in coordination with head coach.    
  • Supervises study tables and coordinates with Owen's Center for Teaching and Learning to help students access academic support.
  • Assists and participates in university, department and team fundraising activities and events.
  • Promotes HU, the Athletic Department, and the specific athletic program in a positive manner.
  • May supervise graduate assistant(s) and student employee(s).

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.   

1 year of coaching/athletic experience or other relevant experience required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use arms, hands and fingers to operate and manipulate equipment generally found in an office setting.  The employee may be frequently required to be mobile, communicate, and hear.  The employee may occasionally be subject to a variety of outdoor environmental conditions including heat, cold, and precipitation.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 45 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Mental demands include varied degrees of occasional stress while performing job duties.
