Job Description

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University - Central Texas invites applications for a professional track position at the rank of Assistant Clinical Lecturer of Curriculum and Instruction. The candidate will join a department that offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs, with a focus on preparing effective teachers who can meet the needs of and culturally and linguistically diverse student populations on day one. We seek an applicant: (1) who is passionate about preparing teacher leaders; (2) who wants to address diversity, equity and inclusion in schools; and (3) who will bring critical approaches to teaching to address the needs within school communities. The faculty member hired for this position will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, maintain scholarly activity, and provide quality service to the institution and community. The ideal candidate can use instructional technology effectively to support student learning, and, has a willingness to collaborate with university colleagues, surrounding school districts, and community partners through service activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction

  • Maintain a line of scholarly activity, with publications and presentations that add to the knowledge base

  • Serve on departmental committees

  • Serve on university committees

  • Work with educator certification programs to meet and maintain state accreditation standards

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Doctoral degree approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) appropriate to the area of Curriculum and Instruction

  • Minimum of three years' experience as a certified teacher

  • Must possess the minimum credential standards of SACSCOC, which include at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in field-based teacher education programs and higher education teaching experience

  • Proficiency in instructional technology, online instruction, and effective course design in a variety of course modalities

  • Proficiency in instructional technology, online instruction, and effective course design in a variety of course modalities

  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate

  • Demonstrated expertise and understanding of current TEA accountability indicators and educator standards

  • Experience serving as an Undergraduate or Graduate Program Coordinator
