Job Description

As a member of The Blackwell Inn’s banquet operations team, the Assistant Banquet Manager reports to the Banquet Manager and coordinates all food, beverage and event service with a focus on providing exceptional and professional service to our clients and flawlessly executed events. Assists in the management of all banquet operations including service standards, product quality, policy and procedure implementation, and department fiscal management. This position works collaboratively with other hotel departments to ensure operational efficiency.  Attends daily sheets meeting with catering, culinary and banquet departments to ensure event information is correct and accurate and attends weekly staff meetings. Ensures service and product standards are maintained as outlined by the Preferred Hotels quality assurance criteria.  Assures the cleanliness and conditions of the event space before, during and after events. Assists Banquet Manager in the hiring and onboarding process of the banquet, AV and CS team; assures expectations are exceeded through proper employee training and actively listening, coaching and mentoring staff; creates and delegates daily checklists to staff with thorough follow-up. Works independently with little supervision, monitors events and checks in on clients throughout the day; transforms issues into solutions, empowered to ensure guest satisfaction. Assists in planning, organizing and set-up of tables, chairs, coffee breaks, buffet tables, break tables; carries out policies and procedures as determined by the hotel. This is a full-time hands-on position for an operation open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and does require evenings, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be required. Associate degree in relevant field may be preferred. 4 years of relevant experience required. 6 or more years of relevant experience preferred.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this position is $16.06 - $21.42 per hour (min - mid). The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's education and experience. 

This position qualifies for overtime, shift and weekend differential and gratuities.
