Job Summary

This position supports Texas A&M University—Kingsville’s long and proud athletic tradition by directing increased exposure for the athletics department through media platforms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: strategically directing the athletics department’s media relation, communications, and promotions; developing, creating and distributing creative content; managing press areas and game day media relations; management, retention, and recruitment of full-time and student media relations staff; liaison to the conference office; and the streaming & production of home events. This position reports to the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation, serves as a member of the Athletic Department’s Executive Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage communication department’s daily operations

  • Oversee social media communications strategy through creation and implementation across all platforms

  • Plan and execute video content on social media and website.

  • Oversee game day operations for home contests (statistics, media relations, opponent relations)

  • Manage full-time and part-time communications staff

Minimum Requirements

Education – Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience – Two years related experience

Knowledge of General knowledge of NCAA rules. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Education—Master’s degree

Experience—Four (4) years full-time experience in athletic administration

Knowledge of – Demonstrated proficiency in website maintenance, social media, MS Office, STAT Crew, and Adobe Creative Suite. Demonstrated proficiency in game-day media management to include radio, web streaming, and electronic media. Knowledge of NCAA intercollegiate athletics; working knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines. Knowledge of and experience in graphic design.
