What we want

The Assistant Athletic Director, Operations will be responsible for direct oversight of all Main Campus Athletic Venues, with specific direction of Kyle Field.  They will coordinate all building maintenance, custodial, grounds (SSC) as well as leading gameday setup and breakdown operations for all home football games while providing support to the event management team. Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of related experience in athletics

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to allocate work assignments and/or task responsibilities, maximizing effectiveness and efficiency of self and others
  • Analyzes problems and develops alternative solutions
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Enthusiastic with a desire to work hard and have fun
  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others

Other Requirements or Other Factors:

  • Sports event coverage as needed, requiring frequent nights, weekends and holidays to full fill assigned duties
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as well as breaks and holidays (as needed)

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree
  • Eight years of related experience in athletic operations or event management
  • Previous experience managing a staff

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of building management and venue operations
  • Familiarity with and ability to use various power tools
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to clearly communicate project goals to all members of team
  • Knowledge of NCAA and SEC Conference rules and regulations

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Venue Management:

  • Identifies and provides oversight of maintenance and custodial issues throughout Main Campus Athletic Venues to determine the priority and need
  • Manages main campus requests for furniture/equipment moves and assembly, and performing light maintenance work
  • Serves as a Liaison  of required work orders, prioritize, track progress and communicate with coaches and staff concerning work for all Main Campus Athletic Venues
  • Manages regular inspections for cleanliness, orderliness, maintenance, safety and ease of passage for Main Campus Athletic Venues
  • Oversight of main campus maintenance of general supply inventory, and equipment storage for assigned venues including organization and maintaining storage
  • Serves as after-hours contact for Kyle Field, and secondary contact for all Main Campus Athletic Venues
  • Develops and maintains programs in support of Athletics to determine maintenance and custodial issues throughout main campus athletics venues. Supports and advises Events Coordinator II to determine priority and needs per venue as needed.

Event/Game-Day Venue Management:

  • Oversight for leading game day venue management for Main Campus Venues, including set-up and breakdown of all home football games
  • Serves as back up “on-call” venue manager for assigned athletic events, assisting with venue-related in-game management
  • Oversees that Main Campus venues are prepared for practice, competitions, and other scheduled activities
  • Assists Events Management department with special events, as needed

General Administration:

  • Management of two (2) full-time Main Campus Operations staff, including hiring, training, scheduling as well as daily oversight of their tasks.
  • Oversight of yearly Facility Condition Assessment for all Athletic Department Venues
  • Assist with access management for all Main Campus Athletic Venues
  • Ensures venue operations guides are up to date and accurate for all Main Campus Athletic Venues
  • Assists with branding for all main campus venues
  • Serves as a liaison between the department, Athletics administration and University administration in the absence of Associate Athletics Director, Operations
  • Evaluate individual members of the staff and provide constructive feedback to continue professional growth and development.
  • Assists with budget management and planning, as well as policy and procedure revision and facilitation.

Compliance:

  • Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Southeastern Conference, and Texas A&M University rules and regulations. Works to establish and ensure communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.  Compliance is a shared responsibility. Performs other duties as assigned.
