Job Description:

Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, the primary responsibility of this position is to monitor student-athlete financial aid, institutional and non-institutional financial aid, and individual and team award limits. This position plays a significant role in the coordination of the department-wide rules education programming by providing information and interpretation of NCAA rules, policies, and regulations for student-athletes, coaches, athletic department support staff, and various constituent groups. In addition, this role will assist in the strategic approach to monitoring, educating, reviewing, and reporting as it relates to NCAA, Southland Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Financial Aid:

  • Monitor athletic scholarship levels to ensure compliance with NCAA limits

  • Oversee the National Letter of Intent program and creation of financial aid agreements

  • Verify all outside scholarships received by student-athletes.

  • Manage and monitor scholarship renewals, increases, reductions and non-renewals and coordinate reporting to Financial Aid Office.

  • Manage financial aid and sport information in the Compliance Assistant (CAi) and athletics monitoring software. Prepare and maintain squad lists.

  • Communicate athletic scholarship elements to student-athletes in relation to their student bill, monthly scholarship check and book process.

  • Liaison to payroll office to identify international student-athletes for taxation purposes.

  • Provide international insurance report to international office.

  • Oversee and monitor all compliance issues related to on-campus housing for student-athletes.

  • Process, monitor, and certify all requests for usage of NCAA Student-Athlete Opportunity Funding allocations.

Playing and Practice Seasons:

  • Monitor playing and practice season requirements including playing and practice season declarations, tracking of countable hours, and outside competition for all sports programs.

Camps & Clinics:

  • Manage and oversee the department's camps and clinics programs serving as the primary liaison to Research Engagement.

Other Duties:

  • Assist with department-wide rules education programming by providing information and interpretation of NCAA rules, policies and regulations for student-athletes, coaches, athletic department support staff and various constituent groups.

  • Supervise, delegate, train, & evaluate graduate assistants and/or departmental interns.

  • Attend and participate in NCAA/Southland Conference monthly meetings (conference calls) and attend annual compliance workshops.

  • Assist with monitoring student-athletes’ name, image, and likeness disclosures

  • Monitor and track the following activities: occasional meals, participation awards, Advisor registration, and student-athlete outside competition.

  • Maintain the roster management of all sports, including the certification of tryouts, walk-ons, and male practice players.

  • Monitor complimentary admission requests prior to games.

  • Administer student-athlete employment monitoring system and departmental promotional activities.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Two (2) years related work experience with an NCAA institution.

  • Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum experience requirements.

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Ability to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA, and the Southland Conference.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communication effectively with students, staff, faculty, and outside vendors.

  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy as well as a strong commitment to personal and professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

  • Three to Five (3-5) years of progressively responsible work experience in compliance at the university or conference level, or at the NCAA national office.

  • Experience using Compliance Assistance (CAi) management software.
