Description of Work Unit | Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) is part of the Division of Academic Affairs, and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs while working in close collaboration with Athletics. The mission of Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) is to holistically develop student-athletes as independent and self-reliant learners on their path to graduation, empower all student-athletes to reach their academic and personal potential, and prepare them to become productive members of a global society. The staff provides support for all student-athletes from the time they arrive on campus for a recruiting visit until they graduate. The staff provides resources, experience and knowledge empowering each student-athlete to reach his/her academic and personal potential. Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, a city of 151,000. Located 65 miles north of Denver, the city is nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and alongside the banks of the Cache La Poudre River. Fort Collins offers the convenience of a small town with the amenities of a larger city including a strong public school system, various recreational opportunities, cultural offerings, and dining venues. Residents experience a moderate 4-season climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. |

Position Summary | This position assists the department by supporting student-athletes to positively impact their collegiate experience, retention, persistence, and graduation. This position will assist with providing academic support to student athletes in the role of Assistant Athletic Academic Coordinator. In addition, this position works with the Learning Specialist as needed in the role of Objective Based Study Hall Monitor. |
Position Minimum Qualifications | Personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes Knowledge of NCAA initial and continuing eligibility rules Knowledge of any pertinent privacy/confidentiality rules and regulations related to FERPA Experience working with at-risk student-athletes Effective management, administrative and decision-making skills Interest in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics specifically student-athlete support services Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite |
