Position Summary
Assistant Professor (research track): Alzheimer’s Disease Research
Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) seeks two candidates to join our department at the level of Assistant Professor in the research track. These positions are focused on supporting ongoing and planned Alzheimer’s disease research. Funding is from NIH and related grant support, the IU Center for Neuroimaging, and the Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
Job responsibility:
Responsibilities include (1) Organization and management of large-scale processing pipelines for multi-modal MRI and PET data sets, both locally obtained and from major national/international Alzheimer’s disease related database resources (MRI modalities include but are not limited to structural, resting and task-based functional scans, ASL perfusion, advanced diffusion, and SWI/QSM. Molecular imaging studies include amyloid and tau PET, FDG PET, and smaller scale studies with novel tracers); (2) Development and oversight of quality control processes to assure data integrity; (3) Liaison with research IT staff and developers to ensure effective use of high performance computational resources to support data analysis; (4) Collaborate with other faculty on relevant research projects of programmatic priority and personal interest; (5) Contribute to and lead high quality scientific publications and federal and foundation grant applications; and (6) Provide training and co/mentorship for junior researchers and students. It is expected that faculty will collaborate broadly to support and develop large, multidisciplinary research programs. Selection Criteria:
The successful candidate should have a record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications demonstrating scholarly ability, experience working with multi-modal MRI and/or PET medical image processing tools and be committed to compete for independent extramural research funding. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) are important for this position within a highly collaborative environment.
About us:
The Center for Neuroimaging is dedicated to advancing the state of the art in research and clinical care of brain disorders through 1) utilizing advanced imaging technologies to understand brain structure and function, 2) investigating the influence of genetic variation on imaging phenotypes in health and illness as well as treatment response, 3) development, assessment, and validation of emerging imaging technologies and analytic approaches, and 4) provision of training and experience in structural, functional and molecular neuroimaging research.
The Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (IADRC) was established in 1991 to bring together a multidisciplinary team of investigators and institutional resources directed towards AD and related disorders. At the forefront of Alzheimer’s disease research for over 30 years, the IADRC is one of only 37 NIA-designated centers in the U.S. solely committed to Alzheimer’s research. The scientific themes of the IADRC focus on precision medicine including mechanistic research on etiology, early detection, and therapeutics. The IADRC also has a strong community engagement and outreach focus to help address the need for greater inclusion of underrepresented participants in AD research.
As the nation’s largest medical school, is committed to being an institution that not only reflects the diversity of the learners we teach and the patient populations we serve, but also pursues the values of diversity, equity and inclusion that inform academic excellence.
