Job Summary

The Drexel University School of Education is located in the heart of University City in the western region of the city of Philadelphia. The School has a research active and diverse cadre of tenure track and clinical faculty. The Drexel University School of Education is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor and experienced clinician to join our behavioral health focused School Psychology - Education Specialist (EdS) program. The Drexel University School Psychology program is a comprehensive school psychology program with specific attention to effective assessment practices for guiding intervention, evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions, and strong consultation practices to support intervention implementation for those in need of specialized services. In addition to a theoretical and practical focus in understanding behavior from a behavior analytic perspective, the program includes coursework in English Language Learning, multicultural awareness and sensitivity, and early childhood development and special education. Finally, the school psychology, applied behavior analysis and special education graduate programs share mission, philosophy, practice and research interests, as well as shared faculty and student overlap.

The successful candidate will be familiar with and experienced working within urban neighborhoods and schools. They will know and understand the challenges of underfunded, under-resourced neighborhoods. They will have the capacity to know and understand the needs of our families, and to work well in community settings with multiple stakeholders to establish, build and sustain structures that support student academic and behavioral success. The applicant should possess a strong understanding of early childhood development and the needs of a diverse students in a diverse city and region. Finally, the successful applicant should be interested in obtaining sponsored research to help support our students, and ideally plan to transition to a leadership role within the program.
In addition, this faculty position requires the faculty to be engaged in clinical evaluations and supervision of students through the psycho-educational evaluation process. The successful applicant will have experience or familiarity with administering and interpreting an array of assessments across multiple domains, including measures of cognitive ability, adaptive behavior, social-emotional and behavioral functioning, and achievement. The applicant should have experience integrating assessment information and composing psychological reports that are appropriate for use by caregivers and local education agencies. Additionally, the applicant will possess the ability to provide sensitive, thoughtful, and supportive feedback to parents and school personnel, as well as the ability to work well with team members, parents, young children, and service providers in the community.

Essential Functions

• Teach consultation, intervention and assessment courses, in addition to multicultural competence in school psychology.
• Supervise less experienced clinicians and graduate students in psychoeducational assessment, consultation, and intervention.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• A PhD or Doctorate in School Psychology is required.
• 3-5 years of experience is required.
• PA state or national certification in school psychology.
• Experience with course instruction, psychoeducational assessment for individuals with disabilities, consultation and intervention service delivery in educational settings, strong multi-cultural competence as a clinician and experience working with families and clients from diverse backgrounds is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• PA Psychologist license or license eligible is preferred.
• National or PA Special Education Certification, Board Certification in Behavior Analysis is preferred.
• Experience teaching graduate students, online and in-person is preferred.
• 2-5 years' experience as a school psychologist, special educator, or behavior analyst is preferred.

This is a full-time Faculty position classified as Exempt. The offered salary is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
