Administrative

Under the direction of the Medical Director, assists in coordinating aspects of the medical evaluation of children referred to the Pediatric Resource Center (PRC), in conjunction with other members of the care team.

Serves as a liaison to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center staff and other community medical entities which participate in child protection issues.

Participates in teaching and research opportunities with the College of Medicine at Peoria at the medical student, residency, and continuing medical education levels.

Provides consultation to medical staff involved in assessment and treatment of potential cases of child maltreatment referred to the PRC.

Assists PRC Medical Director with development and maintenance of local and national recognition of the PRC through: 1) participation in local and national professional organizations; 2) familiarity with current literature, theory and practice in the field; and 3) presentations and publications in the area of child protection.

Under the direction of the PRC Medical Director, participates in a Quality Assurance Program for the medical service of the PRC, using peer review and direct observation.

Program Development and Clinical Science

Conducts child abuse patient clinical evaluations and consultation.

Assists in the development of standardized program and protocols to provide optimal patient care in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Participates in opportunities for fund raising and support of the program.

Assists medical and social work staff in developing new approaches to prevention and assessment of child maltreatment.

Teaching and Research

Encourages and participates in ongoing scholarly activity in the area of child protection.

Under the direction of the PRC Medical Director and Executive Director, may pursues local, state, and national funding for research and program development.

Assists in mentoring students, residents, and faculty who show interest in providing health care related to child abuse prevention.
